Elegy in Reverse

 Overwhelmed under ink

Embraced in traces of her

Drenched in an elegy

He whispered a tale

Both strange to the tongue and mind

Yet strong as a scent on an animal farm.

Tilling time to seek a smile

He took his chance

Drawing tears in darkness.

Yet when it was dawn

Another story stood true

Awash with scarred face.

Swashed with emotion

He penned her words

Yet backwards they landed on paper.

To those of us who splash words on paper

Who fears the stroke of the brush

As they paint what we hide & fear the most

Seeing the ink dry to cast a spell.

Before the world devours our soul

Vowed in syllables of fueling feelings construct

That keep chasing after our smiles

Yet with our tears, we paint art perfect.

So, we stand disallowed 

Scrubbing fear on canvas

Just to resale our grief

Molded into a rainbow bowtie

Excogitated to mean well.
